Information Architecture

Information architecture (IA) is the discipline of designing information environments so they are understandable and usable, and solve people’s information-related problems. The information architect is able to see the big picture and also deal with its parts, to think strategically about client goals, technology constraints, and user needs, and also produce artifacts to construct digital systems and other information environments.

IA therefore includes activities that support UNDERSTANDING (research, heuristic analysis, persona development, customer journey maps), SOLUTIONING (facilitating workshops, participatory design), and CONSTRUCTING (process flows, sitemaps).
